Truly Fabulous

The girls were living by the infamous words of Coco Chanel “Truly fabulous people never get ready before lunch”.  They just made themselves extra fabulous by wanting to wear their tutu’s with their pj’s.

Fall 2010

Love going to Roba's Farm in Dalton, PA every fall.  This is Ava's third visit and Stef's first visit outside the womb.  We got the opportunity to go with the girl's cousins which is always a fun adventure as there are a total of 7 kids under the age of 6.  A good time was had by all.

Abby Cadabby 1st Birthday Party

Little Stef turned 1 on October 8th and we held her party the next day.  Being that it is Fall in the Poconos...you just never know what the weather can be like at this time of year.  Heck...the last couple of years our first snow has been in October.  So with that said I decided to hold it in the house.  We have a nice finished off basement that I was confident could accommodate lots of friends and family and not feel to crowded.

Stef loves Sesame Street and seems to get a real thrill out of Abby Cadabby so that is the theme we went with.  The only thing I really wanted for this party was one of those fancy cakes with the fondant icing and what not.  I knew that would cost me a pretty penny so I tried to save money in other areas.  I made pretty much all the decorations, got all the tableware through Oriental Trading , and made the tutu and onesie for the birthday girl.  Take a look at how it turned out.

Food & Drink Station before we put the food out.  We had chicken, ham, and egg salad sandwiches.  PB& J sandwiches cut into stars for the kids.  Jell-O mousse cut into stars in pink, purple, and blue.  Pickle platter and chips.  Then I made a berry bunch and had coffee and tea available.

The basement all decorated

Table decorations

Centerpieces that I made.  Took glittery scrapbook paper and cut them into stars.  Got cheap fish bowls and filled them with tissue paper, flowers, and princess wand.

Play area set up for the kids

The gorgeous cake we had made.  Wrapped the boa around it for some extra decorations and placed the candle on top.

Birthday girl in her homemade tutu and onesie that I made to say her name and a big one on it.

The back of the onesie I put an iron on transfer of wings and then blinged it out.

Eating the cake!!!

Who needs a photography studio?

Who needs to spend the day at the photo studio with two babies who will inevitably be hungry, tired, or teething?  Who wants to spend all the time picking through a million proofs and feeling rushed in picking them?  Who wants to pay all the money for all the photos once you have found you couldn't make up your mind and you bought way more than you will ever display or need??

NOT ME!!!!!

I am lucky to have a mother who has a professional style camera, a beautiful backyard, and the time to help me take pictures of my kids.  Since we are quickly approaching Stef's 1st birthday I really wanted her 1 year photos.  In between meals and naps I rushed over to my mothers house with baby in tow and a few props.  We stick baby in the yard and start clicking.  10 minutes later baby is over it...I am able to lay her down at grandmas, and I begin the editing process.  I upload the pictures on Picasa, weed out the ones I don't like, and begin editing the ones that I do.  Once I have my final list of pictures that I like and have edited complete then I send them to walmart.com where I order the size prints I want...and $14 dollars later I have about 23 pictures ranging from wallets to 8x10's.  Take a look at what we were able to take in a matter of 10 minutes.  We can't take all the credit though....we sure had a beautiful little model.

Mom of 2 under 2

Being a mom of 2 under 2 is a title that I allowed to define me for a year.  When my daughter was 5 months old I found out I was pregnant again.  I immediately realized I was going to be a mom of 2 under 2 and I proudly wore that title from that point on.  My first born is now 2 years old and my other baby is turning 1 in a couple of weeks....I no longer have that title.  I am now a mom of 2 daughters...and I couldn't be prouder.

I wore that title like a badge of honor.  I felt it represented everything about my life at the time.  My life was consumed by 2 babies...and while it still is I must say things are easier now and I have branched out to realizing there is more to what I am and what I do than being a mom of 2 under 2.

So stay tuned to this blog as I find out what my new title(s) might be.  See what the daily happening are that we get into.  If you are a mom of 2 young children that are only a year apart...maybe we can share some tips on how we get through out daily happenings.

Starting Over...

I had a blog that I started and kept up for about a year and a half.  The only people that seemed to read it were family members or friends.  When you only have people you know reading your blog...you have to be careful of what you post as not to offend anyone.  Then you have the fact that everyone reads about your life everyday so they quit contacting you because they know everything that is going on.  I missed people reaching out and asking how I was doing or what the girls were up to.

It has been about 1/2 a year without a blog and I find I miss it.  I miss writing down what my kids are doing, the funny stories, the beautiful pictures, etc.  So I'm going to try it again but this time not let anyone know about it.  If you stumbled across my blog...welcome...you are the type of reader I want.  I hope you enjoy what I have to say and hope you come back to see what we are doing from day-to-day.
